In conjunction with Yolo County, the City of West Sacramento is in the process of updating the Yolo County multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan. The plan was created, and new final version intended to address and assess the impacts of a comprehensive list of natural hazards, such as flooding, wildfires, extreme heat, and drought. The result of this work will set goals and prioritize projects to reduce the impacts of future disasters on people and property within the City and County. Additionally, by developing this plan, the City will maintain eligibility for grant funding opportunities from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the California Office of Emergency Services.

An important consideration in mitigation planning is a whole-community approach.  With that, the public is encouraged to participate in the planning process. To share your input for planning consideration, please click here for a short survey. Feedback from the public will be reviewed and considered by the Hazard Mitigation Planning Team and incorporated into the plan as appropriate and documented as part of the planning process.

The final plan developed as a result of this hazard mitigation process will be considered before the City Council and the Yolo County Board of Supervisors, the governing bodies of each participating jurisdiction, the State of California and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
